Four lots of Wormshield, manufactured by Hannah Pharmaceuticals, has recently been recalled due to lower than acceptable levels of Ivermectin.
Wormshield is a heartworm prevention sold by Banfield Pet Hospitals, located inside of PetSmart stores. The lower levels of Ivermectin mean that dogs taking this product may not be completely protected against heartworm disease.
Lots affected include: 120844 (small dogs), 120845 (medium dogs), 120196(small dogs), 120202 (medium dogs).
Affected pet owners should receive a letter in the mail regarding the recall and what action to take.
Several lots of Wormshield were also recalled in 2009.
